The Nanlux Evoke 5C is tiny. Its accessory system? Not quite so tiny.
One of the most interesting things about the Evoke 5C isn’t just what the 6W full-colour LED spotlight can do on its own, but how much you can change it with the right accessory.
- Need softer light? There’s an accessory for that.
- Want a tighter, more intense beam? There’s one for that too.
- Want to project patterns, use the Evoke 5C as a practical, mount it to a stand or control it wirelessly via CRMX? Yep, there’s an accessory for all of those things.
Nanlux has essentially created a miniature lighting ecosystem around the Evoke 5C, with magnetic and snap-fit accessories designed to quickly change how the fixture is shaped, mounted, powered and controlled.
So, rather than simply listing what’s available, let’s look at what each accessory actually brings to the table.
Shape the Light
The Evoke 5C has a native 20° beam angle, but sometimes you need something softer, narrower or simply more controlled. That’s where the front-mounted accessories come in one, simple Nanlux Lighting Modifier Kit.
Magnetic Diffuser
The Magnetic Diffuser is one of the simplest ways to change the character of the Evoke 5C. The bare fixture produces a relatively hard, focused source. Add the diffuser and the light becomes softer and more forgiving, making it useful for close-up subjects, product photography, tabletop work, small interview setups and other situations where you want to take some of the edge off the light. It’s also a useful accessory to have when you’re working in a tight space and don’t have room for a larger soft light.
Sometimes you don’t need more light. You just need softer light.
Magnetic Soft Dome
The Magnetic Soft Dome takes that idea further, creating a broader, more diffused source from the tiny Evoke 5C.
This can be particularly useful when the light needs to sit close to your subject, or when you’re trying to create a softer source without bringing a larger fixture into the shot. It also becomes particularly interesting when combined with the Magnetic E27 Socket Adapter, which we’ll get to shortly.
Magnetic Snoot
The Magnetic Snoot is all about controlling spill. Instead of allowing light to spread into areas where you don’t want it, the snoot helps contain the beam and create a more controlled pool of light.
That can be useful for:
- Background accents
- Hair and rim lighting
- Highlighting small objects
- Product photography
- Practical details
- Creating pools of light
When you’re working with a small fixture, controlling where the light doesn’t go can be just as important as controlling where it does.
Magnetic Barndoors
The Magnetic Barndoors give you another level of control over the Evoke 5C’s beam.
Barndoors are a familiar tool in professional lighting, allowing you to flag and shape the light to keep it off areas where you don’t want it. On a fixture as small as the Evoke 5C, having miniature barndoors means you can apply that same principle when working in confined spaces or with small subjects. They’re particularly useful when you need to keep an accent light from spilling onto a nearby wall, background or part of your subject.

Get more punch from the Evoke 5C
Sometimes the challenge isn’t controlling the light. It’s getting enough of it where you need it. The Evoke 5C’s optical accessories allow you to concentrate the output and create a more focused beam.
Magnetic Fresnel Lens
The Magnetic Fresnel Lens concentrates the light from the Evoke 5C, increasing its intensity and giving you a more focused beam. Nanlux quotes approximately twice the output of the bare fixture when using the Fresnel Lens. That extra punch can be useful for accent lighting, small areas of fill, background highlights or whenever you need to push the light a little further. It’s a good example of how much the Evoke 5C can change with one small accessory.

Magnetic Spot Beam Lens
Need even more concentration? The Magnetic Spot Beam Lens takes things another step further.
Nanlux quotes up to 5.5 times the output of the bare Evoke 5C when using the Spot Beam Lens. That gives you a much tighter, more intense beam from an already tiny fixture. It’s particularly useful when you want to create a defined pool of light, highlight a small area or get more usable distance from the Evoke 5C. And when you combine the Spot Beam Lens with the Magnetic Battery Grip, you get something rather unusual: a tiny, self-contained, professional-quality lighting tool that you can carry around like a flashlight. CineD highlighted this combination as one of the more unusual applications for the Evoke 5C.
Create patterns, textures and shadows
Magnetic Projection Attachment
This is where the Evoke 5C gets particularly creative. The Magnetic Projection Attachment 15°–35° allows you to project patterns and shapes from the tiny fixture, with a zoom range that gives you additional control over the projection. Add a gobo and you can create defined patterns, shadows and textures rather than simply washing an area with coloured light.
Think:
- Creative backgrounds
- Product photography
- Portraits
- Macro work
- Tabletop shoots
- Music videos
- Texture and shadow effects
- Small-scale set lighting
It’s one of those accessories that can completely change how you think about the Evoke 5C.
You’re no longer just adding light. You’re adding shape.
Protect the fixture when using modifiers
Magnetic Thermal Shield
The Magnetic Thermal Shield is a less glamorous accessory, but it’s an important one. When you’re working with certain accessories or setups, heat management matters. The Thermal Shield provides additional protection for the fixture when using compatible modifiers.
It’s included with the standard Evoke 5C and is also part of the larger Evoke 5C kits, so it’s worth keeping with the fixture rather than treating it as something you only need occasionally.
It’s a good example of the thought that has gone into making the Evoke 5C a modular system rather than simply a tiny light with a few optional extras.
Mount the Evoke 5C where you need it
The Evoke 5C’s size already gives you a huge amount of freedom when it comes to positioning.
The mounting accessories take that even further.
Magnetic Yoke
The Magnetic Yoke provides a dedicated way to position and aim the Evoke 5C. It’s useful when you want to mount the fixture while still being able to adjust its angle quickly. This is particularly handy for conventional stand-mounted setups, tabletop work or situations where you want the fixture to behave more like a traditional light. The standard Evoke 5C package itself includes a Magnetic Yoke, making it one of the more fundamental accessories in the system.
5/8″ Baby Pin with 1/4″-20 Thread
For integrating the Evoke 5C into a more traditional film and television lighting setup, the 5/8″ Baby Pin with 1/4″-20 thread gives you another mounting option. This means the tiny fixture can work alongside the stands, grip equipment and lighting hardware already found on a professional set.
It’s another reminder that the Evoke 5C isn’t designed solely for creators working with small setups.
It can fit into a professional lighting workflow too.

Take the light with you
Magnetic Battery Grip
The Magnetic Battery Grip changes the way you can physically use the Evoke 5C. Instead of mounting it and leaving it in one position, the grip gives you a more comfortable handheld option.
That can be useful for:
- Moving shots
- Handheld fill
- Interviews
- Documentary work
- Events
- Run-and-gun production
- Creative handheld lighting
The Evoke 5C’s built-in battery provides approximately 2.5 hours of operation under specified conditions, while the Battery Grip extends the runtime to around 4.7 hours. Combine the grip with the Spot Beam Lens and you’ve got an incredibly compact handheld light that can deliver considerably more punch than its size would suggest.
Turn it into a practical
Magnetic E27 Socket Adapter
This is one of the cleverest accessories in the Evoke 5C system. The Magnetic E27 Socket Adapter allows the Evoke 5C to screw directly into a standard E27 lamp socket. That means you can turn an ordinary practical into a controllable LED light source. With the Evoke 5C inside the lamp, you can control the colour temperature, colour and intensity instead of being stuck with whatever bulb happens to be available.
And there’s another useful feature here. When the E27 adapter is connected to a standard AC-powered lamp socket, it can pass power through to the Evoke 5C, allowing it to run continuously rather than relying on the internal battery. Pair it with the Magnetic Soft Dome and you’ve got an even more convincing practical source.
For film and television production, this can be incredibly useful. You can have a lamp that looks completely normal on camera while still having full control over the light coming from it.
Add professional wireless control
Magnetic CRMX Module
The Evoke 5C already offers several control options, but if you’re working in a professional lighting environment, the Magnetic CRMX Module adds wireless DMX control via LumenRadio CRMX.
The module attaches to the rear of the fixture and allows the Evoke 5C to become part of a larger wireless lighting system. This is particularly useful when you’re working with multiple fixtures and don’t want to physically adjust every light individually.
Imagine having several Evoke 5Cs hidden around a set as practicals, accents or small sources. With CRMX, those little fixtures can become part of the same lighting workflow as the rest of your professional setup. It’s a feature that might seem unnecessary when you’re looking at one tiny 6W fixture.
But when you’re using several of them? It suddenly makes a lot of sense.
Take the Evoke 5C underwater
Underwater Housing
And now for the accessory that makes people look twice. Yes, the Evoke 5C can go underwater. The fixture itself has an IP67 rating, allowing it to withstand temporary immersion up to 1 metre for 30 minutes under the conditions of the rating. But the optional Underwater Housing takes things considerably further, allowing the Evoke 5C to be used at depths of up to 30 metres.
That opens up a very different range of applications:
- Underwater cinematography
- Pool shoots
- Water-based product photography
- Aquatic environments
- Rain and splash-heavy productions
- Creative underwater work
It’s certainly a specialist accessory. But for the productions that need it, being able to put a controllable full-colour light underwater in such a small package is a pretty big deal.
One light. Multiple possibilities.
And that’s really the point of the Evoke 5C accessory system. You’re not buying a collection of random add-ons. You’re building different versions of the same light depending on what the shoot requires.
- Want soft light? Magnetic Diffuser or Soft Dome.
- Want more punch? Magnetic Fresnel Lens or Spot Beam Lens.
- Need to control spill? Magnetic Snoot or Barndoors.
- Want to create patterns? Projection Attachment.
- Need to mount it? Magnetic Yoke or Baby Pin.
- Want to take it handheld? Magnetic Battery Grip.
- Need a practical? Magnetic E27 Socket Adapter.
- Working with a professional wireless lighting system? Magnetic CRMX Module.
- Need additional protection when using certain modifiers? Magnetic Thermal Shield.
- Going underwater? Underwater Housing.
And because the accessories are designed specifically around the Evoke 5C, you can change the way the fixture works without changing the fixture itself.

What about the Evoke 5C 8-Light Kit?
For some productions, one Evoke 5C will be more than enough. For others, having several tiny, controllable fixtures available at the same time could completely change the way you approach a set.
That’s where the Nanlux Evoke 5C 8-Light Kit comes in. The kit includes eight Evoke 5C fixtures alongside a selection of the accessory system, including Diffusers, Soft Domes, CRMX Modules, Thermal Shields, Barndoors, Snoots, Fresnel Lenses, Battery Grips, E27 Socket Adapters, Yokes, Projection Attachments, Spot Beam Lenses and Gobos. It also includes Baby Pins and a protective GUTEK T-230 case.
Having eight small fixtures means you can place light throughout a set rather than constantly moving one fixture around. You could hide them in practicals, use them for background accents, add small sources inside a vehicle, create multiple pools of light or use several fixtures for a complex projection setup. And because the system includes CRMX modules, those individual lights can be incorporated into a professional wireless control workflow.
For gaffers, production companies and rental houses, that’s where the Evoke 5C starts to become much more than a tiny light. It’s a complete miniature lighting system.
Do you need every Evoke 5C accessory?
Probably not. And that’s one of the nice things about the system. You can choose the accessories that actually make sense for the way you work.
- A photographer might get a lot of use from the Diffuser, Soft Dome, Fresnel and Projection Attachment.
- A filmmaker might reach for the Snoot, Barndoors, Fresnel, Battery Grip and Yoke.
- A gaffer might want the CRMX Module and Baby Pin alongside multiple fixtures.
- A production shooting practical-heavy scenes might make very good use of the E27 Socket Adapter.
And if you’re shooting underwater, well… the answer is fairly obvious. The point is that the Evoke 5C can grow with your lighting kit.
Small fixture. Serious flexibility.
The Nanlux Evoke 5C is impressive because of what it manages to pack into such a small body. But the accessory system is what really opens it up. With the right combination of accessories, the same tiny fixture can become a soft source, a focused spotlight, a controlled accent, a projection light, a practical, a handheld light or part of a professional multi-light setup.
And that’s the beauty of it. You don’t need a bigger light for every job. Sometimes you just need a smarter way to use the small one.
